Hope Building Homes
Spec homes – unsold homes under construction – are built by trainees in our Hope Building Program and are sold on the open market, which means that anyone who qualifies for a home loan can purchase one of these homes.
Our Hope Building homes have special features, including (but not limited to):
- Open Concept Living Room & Kitchen
- Kitchen Island
- Master Bedroom with Full Bath & Walk-In Closet
- Laminate Floors Throughout/Ceramic Tile in Bathrooms
- Large Pantry/Laundry Room
- Two-Car Garage
- Back Deck
All Hope Building Homes are energy efficient and can save the homeowner $900+ a year on utility costs!
Not every Hope Building Home has the same features. Some of the houses do not have garages, for example. Some houses may have two stories. It just depends on the design of the home we’re building, and in some cases, the homebuyer. Those interested in owning a Hope Building Home can get involved early in the process by contacting the program director and inquiring about having a home custom built. By getting involved earlier in the process, the homebuyer then has the opportunity to pick the floor plan/design and many of the home’s features and amenities.
Our Hope Building Homes are priced a bit higher than homes built in our income-based homeownership program due to their size and additional features. Please note that interested homebuyers who apply to own a Hope Building house are welcome to go to any lender or bank of their choosing. We suggest Fahe’s JustChoice Lending, but again, this decision is up to the prospective homebuyer.
All proceeds from the sale of the homes fund the cost of our training program.

What Happens After I’m Approved?
Once you’re approved for a home loan, our Hope Building Program Director will work with you to get a home that suits your family’s needs. We may have a home-in-progress you love, or we can design a home just for you!
We build homes in our service area, which includes the Eastern Kentucky counties of Breathitt, Knott, Leslie, and Perry. We have several options for selecting your location:
- Select from unsold homes already under construction.
- Choose one of our vacant lots or let us help you find suitable property.
- Let us build a home on property you own.

Homeowner Testimonial
“There’s nothing else you can get that’s as nice as this, in this price range, anywhere. It doesn’t matter that I’m a nurse and make decent money now; I can’t get something like this by just going out there and buying it. You can’t.”

Hope Building Homeowner
